SSRSB Appoints Interim Superintendent
BRIDGEWATER – On April 2nd Board Chair Jennifer Naugler announced that Dr. Jim Gunn has been appointed as interim Superintendent, replacing Nancy Pynch-Worthylake, who will start her new position with the Department of Education on April 15th.
Dr. Gunn, who served as the interim Superintendent of Schools with the South Shore Regional School Board in 2006, has a wealth of educational experience, having served for 36 years in public education. He retired from the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board in 2005 where he was Superintendent for nine years. Prior to that, he served as Superintendent of the predecessor board, the Kings County District School Board, for five years and as a Principal for a decade.
Ms. Naugler said that finding an interim Superintendent with experience was very important for the Board. “We were looking for someone who had experience,” Ms. Naugler said. “We are very pleased that Dr. Gunn is available at this time to fill the Superintendent’s position in the short term.”
Ms. Naugler noted that a request for proposal has been issued to look for a company to begin the search for a full-time Superintendent.
“Dr. Gunn will be with us from April 8th to July 15th, 2013″ she said, “and the term could be extended upon mutual agreement of the Board.”
